The Best Dam Run, Relay, & Walk
The Best Dam Run, Walk & Relay is an individual and relay race starting at Bowman Dam and finishing at Ward Rhoden stadium. The Best Dam Run is held annually in November. It is a fun, community, athletic event that is comprised of relay teams of two or four people or individuals. The majority of the run is gently rolling hills along the very scenic Crooked River to a flat finish at Ward Rhoden stadium. The Best Dam Run is a growing tradition in Prineville and will continue to be for years to come. There is also a Kids 2k fun run around the stadium and a lunch provided for all participants.

The Cause: The Landing: The Landing is an after school Youth and Tutoring Center in Prineville that opened in February 2011. It is open to Middle School and High School Students. We provide free tutoring, along with a free meal and other free activities. Most of the funds raised from the Best Dam Run & Relay will continue to help The Landing to offer its services for free. CCHS & CCMS Track & Field: As you know, funding continues to be a challenge for all sports programs in Crook County, including both the High School and Middle School Track & Field programs. We are again in the process of fundraising for many things which we have taken for granted over the years. Thankfully, the School District has added some funding for athletics back into their budget. However, there is still a financial gap that needs to be filled. Fortunately this gap is smaller than in previous years and we are able to share this fundraiser with The Landing, in hopes of helping them obtain some needed finances for their program. A portion of the proceeds raised through the Best Dam Run & Relay will go toward funding the Track & Field programs for the current school year, including such things as equipment, team dinners (held the night before various track meets) and coach’s stipends.
Volunteer Fair
Recently, The Landing had a table at the volunteer fair, held the Crook County Library. A number of non-profit organizations were represented there including our new friends at www.kahoot.org. This is a very cool organization with a commitment to volunteer service that makes our community a better place. Please take a moment to check them out.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
The Landing will have a table at Parent/Teacher Conferences Wednesday 4/20 and Thursday 4/21 at CCMS and CCHS. Be sure to stop by our table and say hi!
McKenzi, Desi, and Jessica give a tour of The Landing.
